{Seducing Cinderella – Fighting For Love #1} by Gina L. Maxwell {40¢}

Plot-7¢:

The story had a great theme. This was a story of girl who has no self-confidence. A guy that helps her realize her true beauty so she can get the attention of another man (his opposite.) In return, she rehabs his physical wounds. All the while, she  rehabs his emotional wounds, too. It is a swan/butterfly story of sorts. I liked it, it was a good book. It just lacked a little meat that I was craving from the story-line. Also, I would have preferred a different point of view, rather than third. I never feel as connected to the characters with third person.

Main Characters – 4¢

Lucie, a physical therapist, was very timid and blind to her own self-worth. The few times she did show her back bone were my favorites. Going from ponytail and dowdy apparel to high heels and highlights, she changed quite a bit from beginning to end. However, at the end of the book at the big party, I felt like she hadn’t changed at all. Reid, a MMA fighter, was probably my favorite of the two main characters. He was funny, thoughtful, and generous. I didn’t buy the whole tough guy label on this guy. There was never a real example of him being tough. I would have loved to see a little more temper or volatility.

Secondary Characters – 3¢

There were not that many secondary characters. Her best friend, Vanessa, was kind and true to fashion supportive. Dr. Steven was bland. Kyle and his partner, Eric, were okay. Jackson, her brother was absent. Reid’s father was a typical jerk, careless father. There was no one else in this book that I would be interested in following up on, aside from possibly the leads. Well…maybe the old bartender dude. Just kidding.

Setting – 3¢

Meh. After a few days, I can’t really remember any of the place’s specifics. I know they reacquainted in her office, were in her apartment, she had a gym in-house, a restaurant, a bar, another gym, a gala/ball but none of the actual places stick out to me.

Humor – 3¢

Reid and Vanessa had some cute punch lines, but nothing to write home about. This wasn’t a comedic romance by a long shot. It was lighthearted and wasn’t weighted down with depressing dialog and subject matter, so I will stick it in the mid-humor area.  Overall, it was a feel good read.

A/R – 4¢

Well, I read this one straight through. The dirty parts breathed wind in my reading sails and fueled me to continue.

Vocab – 3¢

It neither was good, not bad. Just average. I was neither impressed with the vocabulary/wording, nor was I annoyed from repetition/generic speak. A real corn flake.

Steam – 5¢

This book had hot spots. Eeeee. The intimate scenes were the book’s “main course.” Know what I mean? Where it lacked in other areas, it made up for it here. If you are into sexy, steamy, naughtiness…this is your book.  I repeat… this book was h.o.t.

Value – 5¢

This book was under $3 on my Barnes&Nobel Nook app. I think that was fair.

Ending – 3¢

Albeit, predictable ending. I was wondering where the title came from at first. There were literally no references (that I picked up on anyway) to Cinderella until the last 5 or 6 pages. Uh, okay? But it did end sweetly.

This book was a good book. Definitely worth the money spent on it. The highlights for me were the filthy, dirty parts. I suppose that makes me a bit of a sleaze-ball, but if you breathe heavy like a sleaze-ball while reading Chapter 11 of this book….YOU ARE A SLEAZE-BALL, TOO! And that’s cool. We’ll get along just fine.
